As if 2 ingredient dough wasn't easy enough, you can also use it to make some yummy bagels! It does require a few extra simple steps, but it's totally worth it! I should also say that all the recipes I post are my own and when they're not, I try to give credit. I spend a lot of time on Pinterest pinning healthy recipes and such, which gives me a lot of inspiration, however, Cory and I will adapt the recipe to better fit out style, taste, and ingredients. This has led to some great recipes we still use and other times left us thankful for our garbage disposal! :)
I follow a lot of health oriented people on social media, mainly Instagram, and that's where the whole idea of 2 ingredient dough came from. There wasn't one specific person posting about it, so when I shared it with you all I didn't link any specific source. The bagel idea, however, came directly from a health food blog and I've linked it so you can check it out! https://www.skinnytaste.com/easy-bagel-recipe/
We've tried the bagels using Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend from Trader Joe's and also making our own mashup of blueberries, poppyseeds and cinnamon raisin as well. All have been delicious and all are so easy it's almost mind blowing! I'll list the ingredients and steps below for easy access, but feel free to try out your own toppings and mixtures. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 cup unbleach all purpose flour (gluten-free, whole wheat, or low carb flour can also be substituted!)
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt (use 1/2 teaspoon if using table salt)
1 cup Greek yogurt
1 egg white, beaten
Toppings (Everything agel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, blueberries, raisins and cinnamon - if you're using the latter two we've found it easier to add these to the yogurt mixture before adding this to the dry ingredients!)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375, and spray pan with olive oil to prevent sticking.
In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder and whisk to mix.
Add the yogurt and mix well with spoon (don't worry it will look crumbly!)
Lightly dust flour on a flat surface and remove dough from bowl. I also dip my hands into the flour to lightly coat them to help with sticking! Knead the dough, folding it over on itself several times until it is tacky but not sticky. Add flour as needed, but be careful not to add too much or else it will make the bagels tough.
Use a knife to score the dough ball into 4 equal squares. Roll each into 3/4inch thick ropes, joining the ends to form bagels, and place onto pan.
Using a brush or spoon, apply the egg white wash to the bagels, adding seasoning of your choice.
Bake on top rack of oven for 23-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow bagels to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting.
Here are some pictures of what ours looked like! We've also cut them in half to eat as egg sandwiches for breakfast!
